Do you like reading stories?

What kind of stories do you prefer?

Did your parents use to tell you stories at bedtime?

Let's have a look a traditional fairy tale: Cinderella

What do you know/remember about the story?

Who was she? Who did she live  with?

What kind of chores did she have to do? Why?

Let's watch a short VIDEO.

What part of the story can you see there?

Now, let's read the story.

a) Can you identify the different chores she had to do? Are they different from the ones in the video?

b) Look at the underlined words. Can you find synonyms for them.

Cinderella

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl called Cinderella. She had two ugly stepsisters who where very unkind. They made her do all the hard work. She had to sweep the floors and do all the dishes while they dressed up in fine clothes and went to lots of parties.

One day a special invitation arrived at Cinderella's house. It was from the Royal palace. The king's only son, a truly handsome prince, was going to have a grand ball. The three stepsisters were invited. Cinderella knew she wouldn't be allowed to go to the ball, but the ugly stepsisters were excited. They couldn't talk about anything else.

When the day of the ball came, they made such a fuss. Poor Cinderella had to rush about upstairs and downstairs. She fixed their hair in fancy waves and curls and she helped them put on their expensive new dresses. As soon as they had gone, Cinderella sat down by the fire and she said, "oh, I wish I could go to the ball"

The next moment, standing beside her was a lovely old lady with a silver wand in her hand."Cinderella", she said, "I'm your fairy godmother and you shall go to the ball".

Do you remember how the story ends?

c) Invent your own Cinderella. With a partner, re-write the first paragraph of the story adding your own words in the blank.

You can use your own ideas to create a different Cinderella.  Finally, we are going to listen to each other's stories.
